ISSUES

Public Safety:

A paramount duty of county governance is ensuring the safety of its citizens. Therefore, I support an amendment that would prioritize public safety during the annual budget process. This would ensure that the county Sheriff’s office is adequately staffed, trained and equipped to maintain peace and uphold the rule of law.

 

Fiscal Responsibility:

To ensure that county governance is being good stewards with our tax dollars, I support amendments that would require a balanced budget and a supermajority vote of county council members in order to pass tax increases.

 

Responsible Public Transportation:

Another paramount duty of county governance is to ensure the safe and efficient movement of its people, goods, and services. To fulfill this obligation in the most cost effective and responsible manner, I support a charter amendment that would recognize public mobility and transportation infrastructure as a core function of county government, that is achieved through non-toll revenue sources, including local, state, and federal funds.
